The Shores Story

From a small Bible study meeting in homes to a new church building on 2053 Sanford Road in Wells, regardless of the meeting spaces, our goal has always been to be a community where people can come and explore what it means to KNOW JESUS and make JESUS KNOWN.

We are committed to making a big deal out of Jesus and helping people find friendship, connection, and a life on mission forJesus.

The Core Of Our Culture

There is an exchange at the end of the Gospel of John that radically impacts the culture of Shores.

In this account we see how Jesus interacts with His first disciples after everyone thought the story was over at the cross. You see those first disciples were a lot like us. Enthusiastic when things are going well and we are experiencing good things, but when trouble hits or something we don’t understand, our attention wanes and we wander.

This is no different. Jesus’ closest friends, they all left Him when they saw Him on the cross. They went back to what they knew and we see in the account that there was frustration, disappointment, and a lack of passion.

When Jesus met this group of fisherman on THE SHORE He had every right to reprimand or say “I TOLD YOU SO!” but instead we see Him make them breakfast on the beach and in the conversation that is recorded for us we see Jesus offer an invitation. He had proved to them that He was EXACTLY who He said He was and DID exactly what He said He could DO. It was their choice now to accept the invitation.

On the SHORE Jesus reconnected, refreshed, refocused, and reignited the mission that appeared to have died. This is why “KNOWING JESUS and MAKING JESUS KNOWN” is the core of our culture. When others have failed us or we have failed God, JESUS made it clear that HE is THERE and PRESENT ready to welcome you HOME to the FATHER.
