Shores Church Hope Projects

Shores Church Commits to these projects domestically and internationally that either serve a community need, humanitarian efforts, and in addition give us an opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus.

What are Shores Hope Projects?

Acts 1 gives a pattern of ministry for the church that we want to follow. There is a call to Jerusalem (our neighborhood), Judea-Samaria (our region/country), and the World (international). Shores Hope Projects is the equivalent of “missions” and seek to encompass all three spaces for Making Jesus Known.

How do we fund Shores Hope Projects?

This coming Easter every penny that is donated through offering will be sent out into a Shores Hope Project. $26,000 was committed for 2026 and our goal is to match or exceed this number so that Hope Projects will continue to flourish.

How can I get involved?

PRAY. Below are all of the projects that we are currently involved in. If you commit every day to pray for a SINGLE project. Just a moment each day will help us live with a Kingdom Mission mindset.

Shores Church Wells Maine Community Outreach

Local Community Needs

If you’ve ever joined us for a service then you know that Shores Church sets aside resources weekly to care for families in the community who might be in need.

SHORES CHURCH has standing invitation to the Superintendent of Wells and each of the principals of the major schools (Elementary, Junior High, and High School) to provide resources to families in crisis or in need whenever necessary. This began with the SHORE THE JOY gift card drive, which started in the first month of Shores existence and has expanded to financial contributions and gift cards throughout the year. In addition, we make it known that our church is available to help step in for volunteer needs if that ever arises. Our goal is to be a support to the families our school serves and in 2026 we want to be a blessing and support to the administration and teachers as well.

Food, shelter, clothing & hygiene needs for displaced or hurting local families in the Wells Maine & surrounding communities.

Shores Church Hope Projects, Stay; For Life

Stay; For Life

Angela Whitten founded this non-profit after losing her 18-year old son Trent in 2022.

This organization provides comfort baskets to families who have lost a son, husband, brother, or cousin to suicide, offering tangible care during an unimaginable time of grief. They have also distributed thousands of t-shirts, bracelets, pamphlets, and other support materials to raise awareness and connect men with resources, reminding them they are not alone. While this is not a Christian nonprofit, it serves a critical need in our community. We believe every person matters to God and is created in His image. We are committed to supporting efforts that affirm the value of life, reduce isolation, and communicate that there is always hope. We pray this partnership opens doors for meaningful conversations and opportunities to make Jesus known in places where there is deep spiritual need.

Shores Church contributes financially to this local nonprofit, which focuses on providing peer-to-peer support for men struggling with mental health challenges. Many within our church family have been personally impacted by the loss of a male family member or friend, and partnering with Stay; For Life allows us to stand with those who are working to end the stigma around men sharing their struggles. In addition to ongoing support, Shores Church has served as a main sponsor of the organization’s annual ride and continues to contribute throughout the year to help expand resources for students and families facing mental health crises.

Nepal Nutrition Center/MANNA Worldwide

Shores Church Hope Projects Nepal Nutrition Center
Helping build a nutrition center in Nepal to nourish, strengthen, families, and share the hope of Jesus.

Craig Alsup serves as a full-time missionary with MANNA Worldwide, an organization dedicated to sharing the saving grace and love of Jesus with both reached and unreached communities across Asia. He is currently partnering with Ajay and Sunayana Pariyar, worship leaders and teachers in Nepal, to help establish a dedicated nutrition center that will provide meals, care, and consistent support for approximately 30 children several days each week. In addition to nourishment, the children will receive educational assistance and spiritual encouragement.

This new space will allow the ministry to grow sustainably and serve children with both practical help and Gospel-centered love. It is an opportunity to make an eternal impact, meeting urgent needs today while investing in young lives for the future. Through this partnership, Shores Church is reminded that even simple acts of faith and generosity can create meaningful, lasting change around the world.

Guatemala Orphanage Support/MANNA Worldwide

Shores Church Hope Projects, Wells, Maine
Providing care, stability, and Gospel hope to vulnerable children in Guatemala City.

Shores Church is honored to support a feeding center and orphanage ministry in Guatemala City that serves some of the most vulnerable children in the region. Led by Laura and Edgar Cojon, who faithfully serve as administrators and house parents, this ministry provides safe housing, daily meals, quality education, medical care, and loving, Christ-centered guidance to children rescued from situations of trafficking, neglect, abuse, and life on the streets. From infants to older youth preparing for transition into adulthood, each child is cared for with dignity and compassion.

Despite financial challenges in recent years, the ministry continues steadfastly through strong local leadership and deep partnership with MANNA Worldwide. Worship, discipleship, and community life are woven into daily rhythms, ensuring that children not only receive practical support but also experience the love of Jesus in tangible ways.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child

Bringing joy, practical gifts, and the hope of Jesus to children around the world each Christmas.

Shores Church partners with Operation Christmas Child, a global outreach of Samaritan’s Purse, by collecting and sending filled shoebox gifts to children in need around the world each holiday season. Through this ministry, simple shoeboxes packed with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and other small gifts become tangible expressions of God’s love and hope to boys and girls who may have never received a gift before.

Each shoebox we send not only brings joy and practical care, but also opens doors for local ministry partners to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children and families in their own communities. By participating in this effort, Shores Church helps spread compassion, joy, and the life-changing message of Jesus far beyond our walls - reaching hearts across the globe with the hope of Christ.

Shores Church Hope Projects: Linda Gove Ministries

Linda Gove Ministries

Clean Water, Medical Clinics & Building Schools & Bible Distribution In Sudan

SHORES CHURCH has benefited greatly from the relationship with Linda Gove ministries. Linda has been developing relationships in Africa with church plants, missionaries, and national pastors for over 25 years.

She has projects that benefit churches and communities going on year round. SHORES funded the digging of a well that will serve a community of 100's with clean drinking water. We also paid for medicalprofessionals to host a one day clinic that is estimated to serve 250-300 individuals. Lastly, we funded Bible distribution in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, near the Sudan border. The community there is mostly made up of the Dinka Tribe of South Sudan.

This ministry gives us the opportunity to partner to build schools, churches, provide more clean water, and much more. We get to help with humanitarian needs and share the Word of God. Seeing lives changed both physically and spiritually.

Send Networks

SendNetwork

Churches planting churches everywhere for everyone.

SEND is the North American church-planting arm of the International Mission Board. There is a yearly offering that funds all the church plants happening in North America. SHORES contributes yearly to this offering and also participates in church-planting events and gatherings in New England. The long term goal is to be a resource for church planting on the Southern Coast of Maine, and specifically the towns outside of major cities.

Wells, Maine is located in between the two least-reached cities in New England represented by the red dots on the map. Both Portland and Boston have less than 3% of the population claiming faith in Christ, according to recent studies and polls. Our church planting goal is for each town in our area with less than 3% of population in a Gospel preaching church to have at least a community Bible started with a shepherd-hearted leader or to partner with an existing church in the area to help resource for revitalization.
