Shores Servant Leaders seek to follow Jesus’ pattern of leadership through service. In the early church leadership was defined by service. We see the words deacons (diakonos - which mean servant) in Scripture and each of the servant leaders at Shores work to hold the standards laid out by the Scriptures (1 Timothy 3 & Titus 1) and include the heart posture we see demonstrated by Christ Himself:
Elders (Presbuteros) not only serve the body but they are also apt to teach, instruct, and correct. They shepherd, care for, and are responsible for the flock on a spiritual care level. We see this laid out in Scripture in places like Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Acts 14:23
But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. Luke 22:26
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
We live out the belief that God desires there to be a plurality of leadership in His body, under His authority and leadership. Unified in service, prayer, study, working together so that we can be presented to Him upon His return a bride without blemish or spot.
